You may not have heard this nugget of history – but our founding fathers actually anticipated our own government would grow and gain more power to itself. They thought of this kind of tyranny (their words, not mine) was totally unacceptable. What we are living with now, is the kind of tyranny they hated.
Thankfully, George Mason of Virginia suggested a way to correct this possibility and return power and proper authority back to the people. He added a clause in Article V of the constitution allowing representatives of each state to convene in order to propose amendments. It was immediately accepted during the Constitutional convention and ratified by all states. Neither Congress nor the President has the authority to stop it.
